 FAQs

  • Download the OpenAir Breathe app from the Apple App Store for iOS users or GooglePlay for Android users

Create your user profile following the on screen instructions

When you are ready to take a reading, press the power button on the OpenAir Breathe to turn it on

Ensure your Bluetooth connectivity is enabled on your phone. The power button on the device will flash when it is trying to pair. The first time you connect the OpenAir breathe to your phone you will need to click on OpenAir Breathe from the list of available Bluetooth available devices to connect. Future connectivity should happen automatically, however if it doesn’t repeat this step (for detailed troubleshooting on Bluetooth connectivity see the next FAQ point).

Once your device is on you are ready to take a reading. From a resting state, exhale into the OpenAir Breathe for approximately 1 - 2 seconds. If the app is open, your reading should be uploaded and displayed in the app immediately. Follow the on screen instructions if it would like you to take another reading.

You do not need to have the app open on your phone every time you want to take a reading - we understand that you’re busy people and this isn’t always convenient. Once the OpenAir Breathe is switched on it is ready to take a reading from you which will be stored and uploaded the next time the device is paired to the app. However please note that delayed uploads from the device can lead to inaccurate GPS location if you have traveled a significant distance.

  • In order to get the best results, your body should be in a relaxed and resting state. This means you should avoid taking a measurement for at least 30 minutes after an exercise activity such as running, fast-paced walking or if you have had a an episode such as an asthma attack that could cause you to be out of breath.

Once the device is switched on, take a deep breathe and exhale into the OpenAir Breathe for 1 - 2 seconds. Your reading will then be stored and uploaded into the app to display your results. If for any reason the reading was not measured properly, follow the on screen instructions to try again until you have registered a successful reading.

  • If you are using an Android phone, location permission is required. You can enable location permissions by going to Settings > Apps > App Permissions > Location > Enable.

If you are using an iPhone, ensure you have gone into the Settings App, scrolled until you have found the OpenAir Breathe app on the list and ensure you have given the OpenAir Breathe app Bluetooth permissions and 'Motion and Fitness' permissions.
